Mary Jane (Stewart) Stuart, 89, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, January 18, 2023. Born in Holyoke, daughter of the late Harold J. and Theresa M. (Harding) Stewart, she was a 1951 graduate of Turners Falls High School. Mary Jane retired from the Town of Agawam where she worked as a secretary in the building department. Previously she worked for New England Telephone in Greenfield and for Mountain Telephone in Mountain Home, ID. She was a longtime active member of the Agawam Congregational Church where she served on many committees, participated in many of the church activities and volunteered on the church Loaves and Fishes ministry. In addition, she volunteered for the American Red Cross, and supported the local Parish Cupboard for nearly 3 decades. She was predeceased by her husband, Perry Stuart in 1983, and two sons, Perry Stuart, Jr. in 2014 and Hal Stuart in 2022. She leaves a son, David Stuart of Stafford Springs, CT, his former wife, Joanne (Grimaldi) Stuart of Stafford Springs, a daughter and her husband, Karen and Bob Cree of Westfield, a daughter-in-law, Laura Stuart of VA, her brother, James Stewart of Georgia, eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was a devoted wife, a supportive mother, and a doting Nana. As the wife of a career serviceman of both the US Army and Airforce, MaryJane was a true patriot. The funeral will be Monday at 10am at the Agawam Congregational Church, 745 Main Street followed by burial in Agawam Center Cemetery. Calling hours are at the AGAWAM CURRAN JONES FUNERAL HOME, 745 Cooper Street on Sunday from 5-7pm.
