Obituary

Mary Madonna (Meehan) Tompkins, 89, passed away January 20, 2025 at her home in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Mary was born May 21, 1935, in Saint Albans, Vermont and was the daughter of the late William and Margaret (Sullivan) Meehan.  Her family moved to Springfield, after WWII, to be closer to other family members and she graduated from Cathedral High School in Springfield. Mary married Ssgt William Tompkins, USAF being stationed at various Air Force Bases with her husband. They retired to Myrtle Beach, SC after the Vietnam conflict. Mary retired from AVX, an electronics corporation after twenty years. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Kathryn Germano. She leaves three sons Brian Tompkins, Bruce and his wife Denise Tompkins, Brent and his wife Christine Tompkins, a daughter, Kathleen and her husband Larry Smithernan, a brother, William Anthony Meehan of Chicago, IL, three grandchildren, Krystal, Valerie, and Amanda along with many neices and nephews. Calling hours are Friday, February 7, 2025 from 10-11am at St. John the Evangelist Church, 833 Main Street, Agawam, followed by a Mass at 11. The burial will follow Agawam Center Cemetery.
