Mathias Weiner
1920-2011
HOLYOKE-Mathias Weiner, 91, died Sunday in Baystate Medical Center. He was born in Holyoke, grew up and was educated in New York before moving back to Holyoke as a young man. He and his brother Jack started the Lincoln Hardware Store in Holyoke. Mathias was active and served on many committees at the Congregation Rodphey Sholom. He was also known as a very charitable man. He leaves his loving wife of 64 years, Helen (Bernstein) Weiner, a daughter Leslie Berman and her husband Louis of Sharon, a son Zane Weiner and his wife Barbara of Sewickley, PA, two grandchildren, Rachel Colchamiro and her husband Dan and Steven Berman and his wife Laura and three great grandchildren, Jesse and Zoe Colchamiro and Jack Berman. The funeral service will be Wednesday at 1pm at Congregation Rodphey Sholom followed by burial in Rodphey Sholom Cemetery. Memorial observance will be Wednesday 7-9 pm and Thursday 6-8 pm at Mathias's home. Memorial donations may be made to Congregation Rodphey Sholom, 1800 Northampton St., Holyoke, MA 01040.
