Chicopee – Matthew E. Walsh, 34 died unexpectedly Monday at home from a still undetermined cause. Matt was born in Springfield, graduated from Cathedral High School in 2002 and received his bachelor's degree in Business from the Elms College in 2007. He grew up in East Springfield until 2007, then spent six years in West Springfield before moving to Chicopee five years ago. Matt was employed by Callaway Golf Company in Chicopee as a Training Specialist. Prior to this he worked as a supervisor at Baystate Medical Center for multiple years. He started his work career in the bag room at Springfield Country Club where his love for golf began. His passion for golf continued throughout as he was a member of both Cathedral and Elms golf teams. A longtime member of the John Boyle O'Reilly Club, he also was the commissioner of the Thursday night Rumblseat Golf League at Chicopee Country Club. He was an avid Boston Sports Fan but was also a life long Dallas Cowboys Fan. He leaves his parents Edward and Joanne (Sylvain) Walsh; sisters Kelly Eddy and her husband Christopher of East Longmeadow and Julienne Paglia and her husband Mark of West Springfield; nieces and nephews Evan, Emma, Aaden, Aaron Paglia, Hannah and Liam Eddy who he loved dearly and was extremely proud of them. He also leaves many aunts, uncles, cousins and countless dear dear friends. The funeral will be held at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home Tuesday at 10:00am with Liturgy in St. Thomas the Apostle Church at 11:00am. Visiting hours will be held Monday from 4:00 – 7:00pm. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Matt's name to Baystate Children's Miracle Network, Brightside for Children and families or a charity of your choice.
