Mercedes Colon

1924 – 2021

Springfield – Mercedes Colon, 96, died Monday evening at home surrounded by her loving family and friends.  Mercedes was born in Puerto Rico and had lived in New York before moving to Springfield.  While in New York, Mercedes had great cooking skills which she love to share with others.  She loved spending time with her family and friends, playing dominos (and winning), going to the casinos, cooking, and helping others.  She leaves her son Roberto and his wife Joy, four daughters, Miriam Bermudez and her husband Gilberto, Margarita Rodriguez, Lydia Torres, and Mercedes Senecal.  She also leaves her brothers and sisters in Puerto Rico and her grandchildren Eric, Jessenia, Yvette, Melissa, Nikita, Annette, Pedro, Jannette, Roberto Jr., Miguel Jr., Erica, Zenovia and Halina.  She also leaves 30 great grandchildren  and one great great grandchild.  The funeral will be held at the WEST SPRINGFIELD CURRAN-JONES FUNERAL HOME Friday at noon followed by burial in Oak Grove Cemetery.  Visiting hours will be held prior to the funeral home service Friday from 11:00am – Noon.
