Michael D. Curran, 66, of Belchertown a loving father died Tuesday, May 3rd at home. Born in Worcester, he served in the United States Coast Guard and was stationed in Erie, PA. That deployment was the catalyst for his life as that is where he met the love of his life, his cherished Karen. Mike and Karen settled in Belchertown where he became a postal worker for nearly 30 years. Theirs was a true love story and he never really was the same after her passing from breast cancer in 2005. While always jovial, one couldn't spend an hour with Mike and not sense how much he missed his beloved Karen. Mike adored his daughters Julie and Amy and the smile on his face whenever he gave them one of his patented bear hugs could light up an entire city block. Most days the last decade were spent with his best friend Michael Barron, to whom he literally owed his life, golfing or taking motorcycle trips. In passing, Mike joins Karen and their beloved beagle, Garbo. He leaves his two daughters Julie M. Curran and her husband David Clayman, Amy L Curran and her boyfriend Joseph Lubelczyk; his siblings, brother Joseph P. Curran of Charlton; four sisters, Charlyne A. Dore and her husband, Randolph of Grafton, Donna M. Dixon and her husband, Samuel of Pensacola, FL, Deborah J. Foskett and her husband, Steven of Worcester and Denise J. O'Gara and her husband, Alan of Worcester; and 16 nieces and nephews. Calling hours are Saturday, May 7th from 2:00 until 5:00 PM in Curran-O'Brien Funeral Home, 33 Lamb Street South Hadley, MA. His final resting with Karen will be a private ceremony at a future date.
