SPRINGFIELD-Michael J. McKenna, 96, of Springfield and Dunedin, FL died Saturday at the Atrium in Agawam. He was born in Springfield, son of the late James M. and Catherine (Leahy) McKenna and lived most of his life in Springfield. He graduated from Sacred Heart Grammar School and Cathedral High School. Michael retired from the US Postal Service after 20 years of service. Previously he worked for Ferrara Springs and Parts. He was predeceased by his wife Rose (Girotti) McKenna in 2010. He leaves three children, Sue Lavoie of Springfield, Kevin M. McKenna and his wife Kathy of Bradford, NH, and Eileen Gardner and her husband Allyn of W. Bridgewater, two grandchildren, Erin McKenna of Holland and Tim McKenna and his wife Laura of Manchester, NH and a great grandson Caiden. Michael's family would like to thank the staff at the Atrium for the wonderful care he received. The funeral will be Monday at 9 am from West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home followed by Mass in Sacred Heart Church, Springfield at 10 am. Burial in St. Thomas Cemetery.
