Obituary

Michael J. Montesi, 53, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, February 26, 2025.  Born in Holyoke, he was a lifelong resident of Feeding Hills and a 1996 graduate of Minnechaug Regional High School.  He was also a member of the Lower Pioneer Valley Collaborative and worked for Valley Educational Associates.  He enjoyed bowling, a daily routine of riding his bicycle after work, baseball games, spending time with his family at the holidays and trips with his family to Cape Cod.  Michael had worked at McDonalds, was in the Special Olympics in Boston, went to Camp Rainbow in Agawam, Camp Togowauk in Westfield, took swimming classes at Springfield College, was a communicant and usher at Sacred Heart Church and helped out with the Agawam Unico Club with its lick-a-pop drive.  He liked going to the dances at the West Springfield Unico Club and going to Disney World and taking a Disney Cruise.  He was predeceased by his mother, Patricia A. (Laporte) Montesi in 2019.  He leaves his father, Fred J. Montesi of Feeding Hills, two sisters and their husbands, Michelle and David Picher of Tewksbury, Marlo and Barry Rosenkranz of East Longmeadow, two nephews, Jack and Jeffrey Rosenkranz, three nieces, Isabelle, Rachel and Emily Picher, his aunts and uncle, Leo and Doreen Laporte of Belchertown, Claire Laporte of South Hadley, Kathy Laporte of California, his three housemates, Stephen, Kevin and Joshua and several cousins.  The family would like to thank the Hospice of Western and Central Massachusetts for all the comfort and care given to Michael.  They also would like to thank all the caregivers, especially Cheryl, Angie and Maiv.  Calling hours are Friday, March 7, 2025 from 9-10:30am at the AGAWAM CURRAN JONES FUNERAL HOME, 745 Cooper Street followed by a Mass in Sacred Heart Church at 11. The burial will follow in Springfield Street Cemetery.
