Michael P. Murdza, 63, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 in Holyoke Medical Center. Born in Holyoke, son of the late Mitchell and Pearl (Plante) Murdza, he was a lifelong resident and a 1971 graduate of South Hadley High School. He was the proud owner of Michael's Market, where you were always greeted with a smile. He worked for many years as a purchasing agent/estimator for M. J. Moran Mechanical Contractors in Haydenville and R. R. Leduc Sheet Metal in Holyoke. He was also a communicant of St. Patrick's Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family. He was known as "Old Man Dad" to his daughter, Andrea and he got a kick out of going on fishing trips with his sons, Matthew and Derek. The majority of his time was spent playing with his grandchildren and sneaking them a snack or two. He will be missed by his beloved wife of forty-two years, Patricia M. (O'Hare) Murdza, a son and his wife, Matthew M. and Jenny Murdza of Chicopee, a daughter, Andrea M. Murdza of Chicopee, and four grandchildren, Leighana Jane, Ruby Mae, Molly Patricia and Micky Murdza, in addition to several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws. He was predeceased by his son, Derek M. Murdza in 2015 and his grandson, Luke Murdza in 2012. Relatives and friends are asked to meet on Saturday for a Funeral Mass at 10am at St. Patrick's Church, 30 Main Street, South Hadley. The burial will be private. Calling hours are Friday at the CURRAN-O'BRIEN FUNERAL HOME, 33 Lamb Street from 4-7pm. Michael always believed in being kind and helping one another.
