MINNA PATTISON (RANDLE) STEELE
January 16, 1924 – January 13, 2011
Minna "Pattie" Steele, 86, died on January 13, 2011, at the Soldiers' Home in Holyoke, MA with her family in attendance.
She was born January 16, 1924 in Montclair, NJ, the daughter of Thomas P. and Iris (Ramsay) Randle. She graduated from Montclair High School in 1941; during World War II she proudly served in the Navy in Washington, DC as a Storekeeper (Disbursing) 2nd Class.
While in Washington, DC, she met the love of her life, Thomas W. Steele. They were married on October 19, 1946 in Montclair, NJ and lived in Beverly, Wenham, and finally Chatham, MA.
Pattie will be especially remembered for her beautiful gardens, her love of singing and playing piano, her many volunteer activities, her work at the Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School library, and her great love of travel and meeting people.
Survivors include her children Catherine Steele of Brunswick, ME; Meredith McCarran of Amherst, MA; and Alan Steele of Wellesley, MA; as well as five grandchildren.
She was recently predeceased in December by her husband Tom, and earlier by her two sisters, Eleanor (Randle) Smith White and Lyle (Randle) Corson.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family and is being handled by the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home.
