WEST SPRINGFIELD – Mitchell J. Petelle, 80, died Sunday December 20, 2015 in an East Longmeadow Nursing Home. Mitchell was born in Ludlow, VT and has lived in West Springfield for the past 60 years. He worked as a Gunsmith for Smith & Wesson for 35 years until his retirement. He served with the United States Navy from 1954 – 1958. He leaves two children David Petelle and Lisa Petelle; a brother Steven Petelle; sister Maxine Peck and four grandchildren Peter, Tavia Lee, Cianalyn and Gavin M. He also leaves his former wife Ellen Stone. A private graveside service will be held in the spring in Ludlow, VT. The West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home is handling all arrangements.
