WEST SPRINGFIELD-Nellie E. (Garrett) Doty, 92, died Saturday at home surrounded by her family. She was born in Springfield and grew up on Worthy Avenue in West Springfield. She was a member of Mittineague Congregational Church since 1928 where she served as the financial secretary for 26 years. Nellie enjoyed traveling, meeting and corresponding with the many people she met during genealogy pursuits. She worked at the Big E for the Apple Growers Assoc. Booth in the Mass Building for 25 years. During WW2 she worked at the Springfield Armory, after the war she worked for McKesson Robbins in Springfield. Nellie spent summer weekends at the family cabin in Chesterfield and enjoyed classical music especially Gilbert & Sullivan. She leaves her husband Robert R. Doty and a son Arthur R. Doty and his wife Joyce of West Springfield. She was predeceased by her brother Alfred Garrett and her sister Ruth (Garrett) Rant. All services are private.
