SPRINGFIELD-Nelson Baez, 46, died Wednesday surrounded by his family. He was born in Springfield and lived here all his life. He practiced culinary arts and loved the New York Yankees. He also played baseball, softball and volunteered for the Children's Special Olympics. He leaves two sons Nelson Anthony Baez and Johnathon Luis Baez, both of Ohio, his mother Gloria Baez of Springfield, a brother Jorge Baez of FL, nieces Robyn Lemus and Allison Baez, both of Springfield and his girlfriend Magda Sepulveda of Agawam. Nelson was predeceased by his beloved father Benigno Baez. The funeral will be Monday at 9 am from West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home followed by Mass in All Soul's Church.
