Norma Iris Rivera Cartagena passed away peacefully with family at her side on Feb 10, 2018.   She was born in Aibonito, Puerto Rico on February 6, 1937 to Angel and Eulalia (Cartagena) Rivera.  She was a dedicated single mother and homemaker, whom worked for years as a seamstress.  Norma had an unwaverng faith in God, and nurtured, supported, and spiritually guided many family members throughout the years.  Norma has many loving family members in the Springfield area as well as Puerto Rico and New Jersey.  She was predeceased by her son Daniel Rosario and is survived by her children; Maria Rosario, Hipolito Vazquez, Edwin Vazquez and his wife Sonia, Norma Nunez-Vazquez and her wife Angela, Rogelio Rosario and his wife Cindy, Omayra Gonzalez wife of Daniel Rosario. She is also survived by her grandchildren; Jessica Bray and her husband Daniel, Stephanie Vazquez, Edwin "Eddie" Vazquez, Kari Gonzalez, Nicholas Agosto, Alexander Vazquez, Julianna Vazquez, Daniel "Buddy" Rosario Jr, Iliana "Nana" Rosario, Rogelio "Roger" Rosario Jr, Nehemiah Nunez-Vazquez.; and great grandchildren; Alexis Avery and Nevaeh Costa. Family and friends are invited to meet for calling hours on Wednesday, February 14 ^th ,  during the hours of 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. at Curran Jones Funeral Home, 109 Main Street, West Springfield.  A mass will be held the following day Thursday at Our Lady of Sacred Heart Church at 10 a.m, burial to follow at Hillcrest cemetery.
