Norman "Norm" Gagnon, 84, died March 30th at the Holyoke Health Care Center. Born March 9, 1931 in Chicopee. He was the son of the late Arthur and Anna (Buss) Gagnon. He was a life time resident of South Hadley and graduated from South Hadley High School. He served in the US Army during the Korean War stationed in the Karlsruhe Germany. Norm was a thirty five year firefighter for South Hadley District 1 retiring in 1993. He was custodian for the South Hadley Library retiring in 1993. Norm enjoyed playing golf and winter trips to Florida and especially spending time with his family. He was a Red Sox and Patriots fan. Norm leaves his wife and best friend for 60 years Doris (Allen) Gagnon. Three daughters, Linda Simpson and husband Doug of South Hadley, Gail McDonnell and husband Andrew of Naugatuck, CT and Donna Pinciak and husband Steve of South Hadley, six grandchildren Melisa Scott and husband Josh, Keith Simpson and wife Kathleen, Jennifer and Christopher McDonnell and Derek and Megan Pinciak, three great grandchildren Grace and Nora Scott and Charlie Simpson, one sister Rita Gosselin of Chicopee and a brother in law and sister in law Ernest and Winnie Allen and several nieces and nephews. He predeceased by 3 brothers and 4 sisters. The family would like to thank Dr. Croke and the second floor nurses at Holyoke Health Care Center for their care and kindness. The funeral will be Friday at 10 am from Curran-O'Brien Funeral Home, 33 Lamb St., South Hadley followed by services at United Methodist Church at 11 am. Burial in Village Cemetery at a later date.
