Olga (Fabbri) McCarthy

WEST SPRINGFIELD – Olga "Fridee" (Fabbri) McCarthy formerly of Havenhurst Road passed Monday, July 28, 2014 in Mercy Hospital. Olga was born in West Springfield, the daughter of the late Amedio and Augusta (Passerini) Fabbri, and has lived here all her life. She was a retired Personal Shopper for the former Albert Steiger's Department Store in Westfield. She also worked as a nurse's aide at Mercy Hospital and in the payroll department of the Springfield Armory. An active Bridge Player, she was a communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle Church, trustee of the West Springfield Boys & Girls Club and lifelong member of the Ramapogue Women's Club. Her husband the "love of her life" James F. "Mac" McCarthy died in 1996. She leaves two sons James and his wife Pam of Ellington, FL., William and his wife Kathy of Clifton Park, NY; two daughters Marianne McCarthy Campbell and her husband Bob of Graton, CA and Donna McCarthy Carman and her husband Ron of Atlanta. She also leaves her beloved sister Eleanor Cody and her husband Jack of West Springfield; five grandchildren Kristin Kelley, Scott, Kelly, Will, and Ted McCarthy; two great grandchildren Sophia and Danielle; nieces Ellen, Debbie and Lisa; nephew John and many dear friends including the Friday Friendly's Friends. Olga was predeceased by her brothers Angelo and David Fabbri. The funeral will be held at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home Saturday at 9:00am with Liturgy in St. Thomas the Apostle Church at 10:00am followed by burial in St. Thomas Cemetery.
