Patricia A. Schumacher
1926-2011
Northboro, Mass- Patricia A. (Reardon) Schumacher 85, a former 72 year resident of her beloved Garden Street of West Springfield, passed away Wednesday, August 31 at the Beaumont Rehab and Skilled Nursing Center in Northboro, Mass. She was born and raised as the ninth child of twelve to the late Christopher and Olivette (Sexton) Reardon. Educated in parochial schools, she graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Springfield. She worked several years for the Farmers Exchange in West Springfield before changing careers. She worked for many years as a dental assistant to the late Dr. Alexander Stevens. Upon his retirement, she was employed as a receptionist for the dental office of Drs Archambault, Hood, and Zepko where she retired at 72. She worked at the polls for Precinct 3 for 10 years. She was a Communicant at the former Immaculate Conception Church. Her humor, love of life, and her love of family were evident by those who knew her. She leaves behind her beloved children; two sons, William J. Schumacher II and his wife Marie, of Pacifica, Calif., Kevin M. Schumacher and his wife Cindy of Shrewsbury, Mass. and a daughter, softball hall of famer Diane E. Schumacher of Ellicott City, Maryland. She leaves her brother, Peter M. Reardon of Agawam. She leaves 5 grandchildren; Jason, Kelly, Jennifer, Daniel, and Christopher, and many nieces and nephews. Her late husband William J. Schumacher predeceased her in 1990. Her family would like to extend their most heartfelt gratitude to all the caregivers both at home, and at Whitney Place and Beaumont Rehab and Skilled Nursing Center who treated her with such great love, care, and respect. The funeral will be Thursday at 9am from the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home followed by Mass at St. Frances Xavier Cabrini (formerly Immaculate Conception Church) at 10 am. Burial will be in St. Thomas's Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday 4-7pm.
