Obituary

Paul C. Robillard, 94, passed away on Saturday, January 7, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Holyoke and was the son of the late Zenon and Camilla (Plouffe) Robillard; he was a lifelong resident of South Hadley, and a 1941 graduate of South Hadley High School. He was a World War II Army Air Force Veteran, attaining the rank of Sergeant and was a Prisoner of War at Stalag 17B in Germany from October of 1943 until the end of the war.  He was a recipient of the Purple Heart and many other service metals.  After returning from the war he started his firefighting career in 1949 and became the chief in 1981, retiring in 1984. He was happily married for 62 years to the love of his life, Rita A. (Lafrenaye) Robillard until her passing in 2013. He enjoyed spending time at Lake Sunapee with his family, playing cribbage and watching all the New England sports teams.  He was an outstanding example of the greatest generation, a kind soul and a true gentleman. He was a member of the South Hadley Knights of Columbus, and a communicant of St. Patrick's Church and its men's club. He leaves a son Dennis P. Robillard and his wife, Mary Beth of Old Orchard Beach, ME, a daughter Ann M. Lukasik and her husband Bruce of South Hadley, a sister, Agnes Everson of South Hadley, four grandchildren, Daniel Lukasik and his wife Marya, Thomas Lukasik, Brian Robillard and his wife Alyson, Nicole Robillard, and a great-grandchild, Ian Blake as well as many loving nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a grandson, Paul D. Robillard. The funeral will be Wednesday at 9am from the CURRAN-O'BRIEN FUNERAL HOME, 33 Lamb Street with a Mass in St. Patrick's Church at 10. The burial will follow in St. Rose Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4-7pm.  Memorial donations may be made to St. Patrick's Church, 30 Main Street, South Hadley, MA or the South Hadley Senior Center, 45 Dayton Street, South Hadley, MA 01075.
