1929-2012
PORT ORANGE. FL – Pauline E. (Seney) Pomerleau, 84, died September 1, 2012 at her son's home here. Born on March 24, 1928 in Holyoke to the late Eugene and Annie (Shingles) Seney, she was a 1945 graduate of Holyoke High School. In 1951 she married the love of her life, the late Gaston H. Pomerleau, and moved to West Springfield, where she remained until declining health required her relocation to Florida in 2011. Pauline worked as a claims agent and adjustor for the former Potter Insurance Company in Holyoke, the Corliss Adjustment Bureau in Springfield, and the Hanover Insurance Company. A devoted and active Catholic, she was a lector, Eucharistic minister. BINGO worker and Annual Catholic Appeal worker for the former St. Louis-de-France Parish in West Springfield, and continued to support the activities of her new parish, St. Frances Xavier Cabrini. She was a friend to many priests, assisting and supporting them during the difficult transitions of parish closures and mergers. Pauline was widely beloved for her even-tempered and diplomatic personality, offering gentle advice to friends and family member while supporting their personal development and independence. She enjoyed simple pleasure in life, such as card-playing, gardening, walking and bowling. Her positive outlook on life, even during trying times, was an inspiration to many. Pauline is survived by three sons: Rev. William A. Pomerleau, pastor of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart-St. Jude Parish in Springfield; Robert J. Pomerleau of Holyoke and Thomas J. Pomerleau of Port Orange, FL and wife Elaine; by six grandsons: Daniel Pomerleau, Nathan Pomerleau, Kevin Pomerleau, Cody Robinson, Jesse Robinson and T.J Pomerleau; by a granddaughter Cheryl Price and her husband James, and a great-grandson, James Price Jr.. She was predeceased by her husband Gaston, who died in 2006 and her daughter, Susan P. Robinson, who died in 2009.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Curran-Jones Funeral Home, 109 Main Street, West Springfield, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Church, 495 Main Street, West Springfield on Friday at 11:30 am. Burial will be at the Massachusetts Veterans Cemetery in Agawam. In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be made to her parish, or to a charity of one's choice.
