Pearle "Jinx" Freeman
1923-2016
FEEDING HILLS-Pearle D. "Jinx" (Daniels) Freeman, 92, of Anvil Street, died Friday in a Willimansett Nursing Home. She was born in Springfield and moved to West Springfield when she was 11 years old, graduating from West Springfield High School in 1941. She lost her first husband John Cady, former West Springfield athlete who died at age 21 on January 11, 1942 after only 11 days of marriage. She volunteered as a Red Cross Nurse's Aide at Mercy Hospital during WWII from 1943-1945 and later worked for WICO Electric as an executive secretary, Steiger's Department Store and the City of Springfield School Department. She moved to Springfield and married her second husband Charles Freeman, a WWII DAV, in 1956. Charles died in 1976. Pearle enjoyed reading, bowling, knitting, traveling and spending time with her family. She was a member of the Agawam Golden Agers, Chapter Two. She leaves two children Michael Freeman and Kim Houle and her husband Robert, four grandchildren, Christopher and Matthew Freeman and Daniel and James Houle, a great granddaughter Olive Houle; her daughter-in-law Lise Freeman and several nieces, nephews and many dear friends. The funeral will be held at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home Tuesday at Noon followed by burial in St. Michael's Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Monday from 4:00 – 7:00pm.
