Peter P. Ball (89), passed away on January 19. Peter was a lifelong resident of West Springfield and spent most of his career as a science teacher. He began his work in education at the high school level, teaching in both Williamsburg and Agawam. He received his bachelor's degree from American International College and went on for graduate work receiving a Ph.D from Smith College. After retiring as a full professor from the chemistry department at Westfield State College, he became an adjunct lab instructor at Western New England University. He was predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Joyce, whom he met in the halls of AIC. He enjoyed traveling, gardening, home and car repair, and spending time in their country home in Worthington. Peter is survived by his son, Wayne Ball, of Ormand Beach, FL, his brother, Richard Ball of West Springfield, niece Karen and Craig Demers, nephew Daniel and Theresa  Ball, and grand-niece Cassandra Ball. Private services will be handled by the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home.
