Phyllis M. Lalonde, 89, passed peacefully into Heaven in Holyoke, Massachusetts on October 2, 2018. She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years John, in 2005. Phyllis is survived by nine children: David J. Lalonde and his wife Sandy of Hampden; Paul G. Lalonde and his wife Tina of Amherst; Lee A. Lalonde and his wife Nancy of Granby; Joan P. Schultz of Yuma, AZ.; Marie M. King of Chicopee; Eric M. Lalonde and his wife Judy of Chicopee; Ernest P. Lalonde and his wife Sandy of Granby; Suzanne F. Soliwoda of Westfield; and Kevin R. Lalonde and his wife Jackie of West Springfield. Phyllis was blessed with 15 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Maryanne Dinger of Sumter, S.C. and a brother Albert Parrow of Springfield. Phyllis was born July 7, 1929 and grew up in Easthampton. She graduated from Easthampton High School. Most of her adult life was dedicated to raising her family in Granby where she was an active member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish community. She led a life of sublime grace as a loving mother and grandmother. Phyllis enjoyed travel and made many friends as an organizer of and tour guide for multiple trips including genealogy field trips to foreign countries. She also found pleasure in many hobbies including embroidery, ceramics and bingo. Over the years she acquired an extraordinary collection of teapots and teacups. Visiting hours will be at the Curran-O'Brien Funeral Home, 33 Lamb Street, South Hadley, on Sunday, October 7, 2018 from 2:00 to 4:00pm. Funeral mass will be conducted at the Immaculate Heart of Mary in Granby on Monday, October 8, 2018 at 10:00am. In accordance with her wishes, her ashes will be scattered upon the ocean during a private family ceremony on the anniversary of her birth. In lieu of flowers, friends of the family may wish to make a donation in the memory of Phyllis M. Lalonde to the Loomis House Activity Fund, 298 Jarvis Avenue, Holyoke, MA 01040.
