Radha Krishan Gupta
1946 – 2016
West Springfield – Radha Krishan Gupta, 70, passed away Tuesday, November 1st, 2016. Dr. Gupta was born in Mirzapur, India, and came to the United States in 1981. He lived in Pittsburgh, PA and Worcester, MA before settling down in West Springfield in 1986. He was trained as a cardiac surgeon in India and practiced Emergency Medicine at Providence Hospital. He also worked at Noble Hospital, Wing Memorial Hospital, Holyoke Hospital, and area nursing homes before opening a primary care practice in Chicopee in 1997. Dr. Gupta was a man of incredible kindness with a brilliant smile, who will be remembered for his willingness to give of his time to others freely and for his silly jokes. For his entire life he was deeply dedicated to taking care of people throughout the community. He retired from practicing medicine in 2014. While he was most adept at taking care of his patients, he loved to tinker with home improvement projects, gardening, and photography. His greatest joy outside of being a doctor was spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He leaves his beloved wife of 45 years Shashi Gupta; his son Hemant and his wife Jadranka, and his three daughters Ritu Jain and her husband Vineet, Meenu Hastings, and Shikha Warnick and her husband Derek. He was a loving grandfather to Kail and Manisha Hastings, Natasha and Jayesh Jain, Andrej Gupta, and Rohin Warnick. He also leaves four brothers and their spouses Ram Krishan and Raj Kumari Gupta, Bal Krishan and Madhuri Gupta, Rajendra Kumar and Geeta Gupta, Krishan Kumar and Sudha Gupta; three sisters Urmila Gupta, Chanchal and her husband Mahesh Gupta, and Anita and her husband Mahesh Gupta. He leaves behind his brother-in-law Girish Kumar and Geeta Kharia of India along with many cousins, nieces, nephews, dear colleagues and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Govind Das and Ram Kishori Gupta, an older sister Sheila Kathal, and brother-in-law's P.D. Kathal and Suresh Gupta. Funeral services will be held at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home on Saturday, November 5th. Visiting hours will be held from 11:30am – 2:00pm. Hindu funeral services will begin at 2:00pm followed by cremation in Hillcrest Park Crematory in Springfield. For more details please visit curranjones.com.
