Fontaine
April 17, 1936 – May 3, 2018
Ralph J. Fontaine, 82, passed away May 3 rd , 2018. He was also affectionately known as "Bomber" or "Butch". He grew up in Chicopee, the son of Euclide and Eva (Riley) Fontaine. After graduating high school, he became a Master Carpenter who worked for many home builders before eventually owning his own business the R.J. Fontaine Construction Company. His talent led him to build his own home from the ground up. He was a member of the National Guard Company "C", 1 st Brigade, 104 th Infantry. He placed first in the State Indoor Rifle Competition which was a major factor through his efforts that Company "C" could display the coveted Major General Edgar Ericson Trophy. He qualified as a sharp shooter and expert in 1960 and received an Honorable Discharge in 1962. He leaves his loving and caring wife of 63 years, the former Pauline Lauziere, a son Ralph Jr., grandson Eric Tremblay and his wife Shannon of Saginaw, MI, granddaughter April (Tremblay) Lehmann and husband Jeff of Lynchburg, VA, grandson Devon Fontaine of Worcester, MA and four adoring and loving great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. He was predeceased by his daughter Karen (Fontaine) Tremblay. He will be remembered because of his ability to make people laugh with his comical ability. He enjoyed the wildlife, being an avid hunter and traveling with his wife. He also had many Bingo friends and appreciated the many friends who came into his life. A special thanks to those who showed exceptional devotion to him goes to his niece Mari Jean Lauziere and his nephew Wayne Lauziere and his wife Tina. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. The funeral service will be Saturday May 12, 2018 at 11 am at the Curran-O'Brien Funeral Home followed by burial in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday 4:00 to 7:00 pm.
