Obituary

Ralph Lawrence Webster, 91, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, February 7, 2017. Son of the late George and Phebe (Simmons) Webster, he was born at home in Agawam in the house where he lived all his life. He was a 1943 graduate of Agawam High School, attended Suffield Academy and was a 1952 graduate of Bucknell University. He owned and operated his own business, George Webster & Son – petroleum contractors – installation and maintenance of service station equipment. Ralph was a World War II navy veteran and served in the Pacific Theater and did submarine service on the USS Cabezon. He played semi-pro football, enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, and was a long standing member of and past president of the Mawaga Sporting Club. He was also a member for over fifty years of the First Baptist Church and past chair of the Board of Deacons. He leaves his wife of sixty-nine years, Jeanne (Bailey) Webster, three sons and their wives, Lawrence A. and Ronie R. Webster of Wilbraham, Gary K. and Jean Webster of Orleans, MA, Russell G. and Diane Webster of Feeding Hills, two grandsons, Tyler and Adam and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, George Webster, Jr., and two sisters, Muriel Hastings and Jean Ham. The funeral will be Friday at 11am at the First Baptist Church, 760 Main Street. The burial will be private. Calling hours at the AGAWAM CURRAN-JONES FUNERAL HOME, 745 Cooper Street will be Thursday from 4-7pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church, 760 Main St., Agawam, MA 01001.
