1925-2012
WEST SPRINGFIELD-Raymond J. Nault, 87, died Wednesday at the Holyoke Soldier's Home. He was born in Ft. Myers, FL and has lived in West Springfield for many years. Ray served his country in the Army from 1943 to 1946 during WWII. He formerly owned and operated the Fireside Restaurant in Chicopee, was employed by the Spalding Corp. and owned and operated the Nault Construction Company in West Springfield. Ray was a sociable man with a good sense of humor who enjoyed hunting, fishing and working in his garden. He was a good dad and a practicing Catholic. He coached little league soccer and baseball in West Springfield. Ray, you will be fondly remembered by all who knew you and whose lives you have touched. He leaves his wife of 59 years Rita (Liberty) Nault, three sons Gary and his wife Lynn of Westfield, Glen and his wife Kathleen of West Springfield and Don and his wife Christine of Longmeadow, two brothers Frank of West Springfield and William of Holyoke, two sisters Mary Guertin of Chicopee and Doris Nichols of Ludlow and eight grandchildren Gregory, Stephanie, Christina, Timothy, Christopher, Daniel, Kelly and Kimberly. He was predeceased by his sisters Rita Hoag and Claire Berrige. The funeral will be Monday at 9 am at West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home followed by Mass in St. Thomas Church at 10 am. Burial in the Massachusetts Veteran's Memorial Cemetery. Calling hours are Saturday 4-7 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the Holyoke Soldier's Home, 110 Cherry St., Holyoke, MA, 01040.
