Rena B. Nicolau, 94 died peacefully at home on Thursday. She was born in Holyoke, daughter of the late John and Albina (Aube) Potyrala. She was raised and educated in Holyoke and lived there all her life. She enjoyed working in her garden, playing cards, watching game shows, and summers at the lake. She also took pleasure in spending time with her grandchildren. She leaves three daughters, Linda D. Gadoury of Chicopee, Gail L. Doss of Monson and Vickie A. Nicolau-Jarrett of Holyoke, two grandchildren, Dominic Mastroianni Jr. and wife, Wendi of TX, and Kelsey Nicolau-Jarrett of Holyoke two great grandchildren Ariana and Giana Mastroianni of TX and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Rena was predeceased by her husband (of 47 years) Victor in 1999 and her sister Alice Sbrega in 1998. The funeral will be Friday, October 5th, 11 a.m. at the Curran-O'Brien Funeral Home, 33 Lamb Street, South Hadley followed by burial in Precious Blood Cemetery. A calling hour will precede the service on Friday from 10 to 11 a.m.  In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Dakin Humane Society P.O.
