Richard E. Garvin

1924 – 2018

West Springfield – Richard E. Garvin, 94, died peacefully Saturday morning at a local Life Care center.  Dick was born in Dover, New Hampshire, he grew up in Bridgeport, Milford and New Haven, CT and has lived in West Springfield for 40 years. A retired real estate broker with Speed & Hegeman Real Estate, he was past president of the Greater Springfield Association of Realtors. Dick was a longtime member of the West Springfield Rotary Club, Chamber of Commerce and served on the Board of Directors of the West Springfield Boys & Girls Club. He served with the United States Army Infantry during World War II. An avid golfer, he was a member of the Springfield Country Club. He leaves his devoted wife Joan (Daubitz) Garvin and two brothers Dr. James Garvin and Daniel Garvin, in-laws Barbara Daubitz and Paul Daubitz and his wife Laura, and many nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home Monday, August 6 ^th at 10:00am followed by burial in the Massachusetts Veteran's Memorial Cemetery.
