Richard A. Pike, 82, died Thursday at Baystate Medical Center. He was the loving husband of Shirley (Hutchinson) Pike, who died in 2014. He leaves two sons, Kenneth and his wife Brenda of Reedsville, WI and Robert and his wife Martha of Bristol, RI, a granddaughter Lisa Pike of Two Rivers, WI, a sister Beverly Lindsay and her husband Donald of Southwick, along with several nieces and nephews. Besides his family he leaves his close companion Louise Gaito of Ludlow who was also a lifelong friend of Shirley's. Dick served in the Army during the Korean War. He was born and educated in Springfield where he lived before moving to West Springfield in 1968. He worked for over 30 years at New England Telephone / AT& T/ NYNEX retiring in 1989 to pursue his many interests. He was an outdoorsman his whole life with a passion for hunting pheasant with his bird dogs and fly fishing for trout. He was a champion shooter of both skeet and sporting clays. Dick was also an accomplished gardener who enjoyed sharing his wonderful crops with friend, neighbors, and family. He was a member of Mittineague Congregational Church for 48 years where he also served on the Board. The funeral will be held at Mittineague Congregational Church, 1840 Westfield St., West Springfield, MA on Wednesday at 10 am followed by burial in Agawam Center Cemetery. Visiting hours at West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home will be on Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mittineague Congregational Church.
