Richard R. West

FEEDING HILLS-Richard R. West, 92, died Sunday at home. He was born in West Springfield and lived most of his life in Feeding Hills. He worked for many years at Fisk Tire before retiring and was an avid gardener, hunter and golfer. He served in the Army Air Corps during WWII. On February 16, 1945 he was shot down behind enemy lines in Germany and was missing in action for three months before returning to the Allied Forces. He leaves a sister Alice Berthiaume and her husband Ray of Agawam and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his brothers Carl, Paul, Edward and Roy and his sister Aina Whipple. The funeral service will be Thursday at 1 pm at Agawam Curran-Jones Funeral Home followed by committal services with military honors at the Massachusetts Veteran's Memorial Cemetery. A calling hour will precede the funeral on Thursday from 12 to 1 pm.
