Obituary

Richard F. Scully, longtime West Springfield resident, died May 22, 2015 after a short illness. He was 85 years old. Dick Scully was a proud small businessman, the owner of Clayton Cleaners, a good salesman and lifelong Democrat. He enjoyed The Jackie Gleason Show, political debates at Pudgy's in the 1960s, and although never a cat lover, was loved by cats, to his constant irritation. He was the son of Hazel and Nathan Scully, and the father of Brian, Michael and Neil Scully, having been married to the late Geraldine Alice Sullivan Scully. He leaves his loving brother, Edmund Scully, and loving sisters Marilyn (Scully) Drumm, Margie Marquette, Janet Green and her husband, John Green. He was predeceased by his brother, Robert D. Scully. Dick had several beloved grandchildren, including Allison, Sara, Taylor, and Kaelyn Scully, and his favorite grandson and partner-in-crime, Colin Scully. He also leaves behind many friends and satisfied customers, which would make him very happy to hear. The funeral home service will be Tuesday at 12 noon at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home. A calling hour will precede the funeral on Tuesday from 11 am to 12 noon.
