Robert I. Berger

WEST SPRINGFIELD-Robert I. Berger, 86, died Sunday at Heritage Hall. He was born in Elizabeth, NJ son of the late Irving and Ruth Berger, and has lived in West Springfield for 64 years. He retired from A & P Grocers in 1991 as assistant manager after working there for 37 years. Robert was a communicant of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Church and a member of American Legion Post #207. He served in the Navy during WWII and participated in the Berlin Air Lift. He was predeceased by his wife Elizabeth (Fitzgerald) Berger in 2007. He leaves three children, Elizabeth Staltare of Southwick, Robert Berger Jr. of West Springfield and William Berger and his wife Eleanor of VA; four grandchildren, Jeffrey Staltare, Lisa Dimauro and Nathan and Kayla Berger; three great grandchildren Ella, Maya and Luciana and his dear friend Nancy Rodgeres. The funeral will be held at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home Monday at 9:00am with Liturgy in St. Frances Church at 10 am.
