West Springfield – Robert F. Collins Jr., 87 died Wednesday surrounded by his loving family.  Bob was born in Northampton, grew up in Williamsburg and has lived in West Springfield for the past 45 years.  He served with the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and worked as a machinist for many years.  He leaves his wife Patricia (Wright) Collins; six children Robert Collins III, William Collins, Susan Newton and her husband Paul, Richard Collins, Catherine Englehardt and her husband William, Kristen Ekmalian; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren and a son-in-law Matthew Sanborn.  He was predeceased by a daughter Michele Sanborn.  Visiting hours will be held at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home Thursday from 11:00am – 12:30pm followed by a committal service in the Massachusetts Veteran's Memorial Cemetery at 1:00pm.  For more details please visit curranjones.com.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Sr. Caritas Cancer Center, 271 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01040.
