Obituary

Robert (Bobby) W. Lasonde, 67, passed away at his home in Denver, CO after a brief illness. He was born in Springfield, MA to Albert J. and Alice L. (Wells) Lasonde and lived in the Brightwood section of Springfield for most of his life before moving to West Springfield. He moved to Bolder, CO in the early 1990's and to Denver a few years ago. Bobby graduated from Cathedral High School. He attended Holyoke Community College where he excelled in English, specifically writing. Bobby served honorably in the U.S. Army with a deployment to Vietnam. From his service in Vietnam, he was awarded The National Defense Service Medal, The Vietnam Campaign Medal, and The Vietnam Service Medal. Bobby had a long career as a machinist and for the past 10 years worked at Denver Precision Products as a Set-up Operator for CNC Lathe machines. He has been described as a "conscientious worker and good guy." Christmas was Bobby's favorite time of year. He was an avid sports fan who enjoyed fishing and watching baseball, football, basketball, hockey, and golf. He leaves his mother, Alice L. (Wells) Lasonde, his brother Wallace and Kathryn Lasonde of Florida, his sister Janis and David Ruggiera of West Springfield, his nieces and nephews Meredith and George, Carrie and Andrew, Matthew and Stacy, Shelly and Robert, and Ashley and Jason, along with 7 great nieces and nephews. Bobby also leaves many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Bobby was predeceased by his father Albert J. Lasonde in 1989. Calling hours with be on Sunday, January 11th from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Curran-Jones Funeral Home, 109 Main Street, West Springfield, MA, followed by a prayer service at 3:00 PM. Burial will take place on Monday, January 12th at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA at 10:00 AM.
