Robert A. Methe
1929 – 2011

WEST SPRINGFIELD Robert A. Methe, 81, of East Gooseberry Road died Monday at home with his loving family by his side. He was born in Chicopee, the son of the late Adelard and Anna (Martin) Methe. He was a graduate of Springfield Technical High School and has lived in West Springfield most of his life. Bob worked as a district manager/floral buyer for Big Y until his retirement in 1994. In his leisure time he kept busy with his own floral business and loved spending time at his house on Cape Cod. He was a devote Christian and a longtime communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle Church. He leaves his wife of 49 years Jean (Colesano) Methe; two daughters Cathy Sandillo and her husband John of West Springfield, Karen DiDonato and her husband Matthew of Old Tappan, NJ; a son Mark Methe and his wife Corrie of West Springfield; six grandchildren Ariana and Lauren Sandillo, Alexandra Zingarelli, Sarah and Ella DiDonato and Ava Methe. He also leaves a brother Martin Methe and his wife Doris of Westfield, sisters –in-law Laurette Methe of West Springfield and Florence Methe of Springfield; brother and sister-in-law Jack and Joan Nehmer of East Longmeadow and his mother-in-law Edna Colesano of West Springfield. One of nine children he was predeceased by his siblings Raymond, Norman, Philip, Euclid, Gerard Methe, Doris St. Germaine and Theresa Capaccio. The funeral will be held at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home Friday at 9:00am with Liturgy in St. Thomas Church at 10:00am. Visiting hours will be held Thursday from 4:00 – 7:00pm.
