Robert A. Shainheit, 77, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, October 17, 2023. Avraham Shainheit was born in Springfield, MA, the son of the late Irving and Gertrude (Bernson) Shainheit. Bob, as he was known, was a graduate of The High School of Commerce and lived in Springfield and Feeding Hills most of his life. He worked as a Manager for the Exxon Mobil Oil Company in the Connecticut area. He was a longtime member of the Bethany Assembly of God in Agawam and of City Lights Ministry in Springfield. Robert loved the Lord Jesus and spent many years devoted to prayer ministry. Bob loved to travel with his loving wife Diane, especially their trips to Maine and Florida. He enjoyed photography, birdwatching, solving puzzles, solitaire, and Sudoku. He also spent time listening to music and playing his keyboard and harmonica. He leaves his beloved wife of 48 years, Margaret "Diane" Shainheit, two sons, David Shainheit of West Springfield, Gary Shainheit and his partner Dawn of Kansas, his stepchildren, Tammy Cato, Teresa Cato- Carrasquillo, Roy Cato and his wife Linette and Mark Cato and his wife Mary. He also leaves his brother, Howard Shainheit and his wife Janet of Worcester, his cousins, Laura Katz and Steven Shainheit, his grandchildren, Diana, William (Tara), Vanessa, Jason, Joseph, Cimone, Ashley, Lauren, Leah, Michael, and Meaghan, his great grandchildren, his loving dog Bandit, his dear friend, Joe Boxer and many friends and caregivers. Visiting hours will be held at The Bethany Assembly of God, 580 Main Street, Agawam, MA on Thursday, October 26, 2023 beginning at 10:00 a.m. followed by a Celebration of Robert's life at 11:00 a.m. The burial will be at Hillcrest Park Cemetery, 895 Parker Street, Springfield, MA. The family would like to thank all the caregivers over the last 20 years for their services provided . The West Springfield Curran Jones Funeral Home is handling all arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Agawam Fire Department Emergency Medical Services, 800 Main Street, Agawam MA 01001.
