WEST SPRINGFIELD – Robert Smyth, 84 of Van Deene Avenue died Wednesday in Baystate Medical Center. Robert was born in Lurgan, Ireland and came to this country in 1949, settling in Amsterdam, NY. He has lived in West Springfield for the past 55 years and has been an avid Red Sox and Patriots Fan. He worked at Hamilton Standard for over 30 years, retiring in 1988. His wife Janice C. (Lombra) Smyth died in 2005. He leaves four children Donald Davidson of West Springfield, Dwayne Smyth of West Springfield, Gail Smyth Hughlette of San Antonio, TX and Linda Taylor of Steubenville, OH. He also leaves six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. The funeral will be held at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home Monday at 11:00 followed by burial in Paucatuck Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held Sunday from 4:00 – 7:00pm. For online condolences please visit curranjones.com. At the family's request donations may be made to a favorite Veteran's Organization.
