Obituary

Robert J. Turnbull, 83, of Carmel Lane died Tuesday in Mercy Medical Center. Robert was born in Worcester and has lived in Feeding Hill for the past 47 years. He was a retired Customer Service Manager for the Rexnord Chain Company and received the Bronze Star Medal from the United States Army for his service during the Korean War. An avid golfer, he played with the Senior League at the Agawam Country Club. He also was a member of the Springfield Area Callers Association and the Radio Controlled Airplane Association. An active member, Robert served as an Elder with the Christ Presbyterian Church in Springfield. His first wife Marilyn (Kerswell) Turnbull died in 1982. He leaves his present wife Cheryl (Bertrand) Turnbull; four sons Gary and his wife Donna of Feeding Hills, Robert and his husband Ron Sykes of Falls Church, VA, Brian of Old Orchard Beach, ME, and Chad of Hillsville, VA; a daughter Robin Bleecker of Palm Springs, CA; two sisters Maureen Karalus and Donna Hackett; five grandchildren Derrick, Chance, Dakota Turnbull, Katie Coffin and Alexa Bleecker and a great grandson Tyler Coffin. Besides his wife he was predeceased by his brother Roger and sisters Carolyn Sturgis and Kathleen Sluckis. Family and friends are invited to attend the funeral at Christ Presbyterian Church on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at 2:00pm followed by burial in Springfield Street Cemetery in Feeding Hills. Visiting hours will be held at the Agawam Curran-Jones Funeral Home Friday from 4:00 – 7:00pm. For more details please visit curranjones.com.
