Roland L. "Ron" Heald, 80, died peacefully Tuesday, April 11, 2017, at home. Ron was born in Rockdale, PA, son of the late Cleon and Mabel (Shorts) Heald; he lived in West Springfield before moving to Agawam in 1982. A 1954 graduate of Cambridge Springs High School, in Pennsylvania, he worked in Quality Control for Berkshire Industries for 20 years. After retirement he worked at B&E Tool in Westfield. He served with the United States Air Force during the Korean War, was a former member of the Mt. Moriah Masonic Lodge and was an avid bowler and golfer. He was much loved and will be greatly missed by his beloved wife of 37 years Cathleen "Katie" (McCarthy) Heald, a son, Roland L. "Ron" Heald II and his wife Kristy of West Springfield, a daughter, Diana L. Heald of Folsom, CA, a step-son, Armand C. Wray along with his wife Kathy Gutierrez Wray of Longmeadow, a step-daughter, Laura M. Wray-Ramos along with her husband Armando Ramos of Springfield, twelve grandchildren, David, Bekah, Timothy, Stephen, Chloe, Antonio, Lilliana, Amelia, Matthew, James, Gabriella and Micah, a sister Wilma Jean Kramer along with her husband Roy, a sister-in-law Sabina McCarthy, a brother-in-law Robert McCarthy and several cherished nieces, grandnieces, nephews and grandnephews in Northampton, MA as well as Pennsylvania. He was predeceased by three brothers. The funeral will take place on Tuesday at 12 noon at the AGAWAM CURRAN-JONES FUNERAL HOME, 745 Cooper Street followed by burial in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held Monday from 4:00pm – 7:00pm.
