Roland N. Navone

1929 – 2020

Roland "Satch" Navone passed away peacefully on Thursday May 14, 2020 of natural causes at Mount Saint Vincent Nursing home in Holyoke. Roland "Ron" was born in 1929 to the Late Mario and Ernestina (Signorio) Navone in West Springfield He was pre-deceased by his wife Ruth (Lizabeth) Dahlke in 2003, they were married for 46 years. Roland was a proud veteran and served his country in the Korean War. Ron was very active in local organizations, bowling at Riverdale Lanes in the Transportation League, golfing in the Dante Club and Elks Club golf leagues. He was a life time member of the Dante Club in West Springfield where he and the Friday Night crew spent many hours playing cards and trying to decide where to go for dinner. He was also active in the Exposition Area Scholarship Fund, Bertelli High School Football Banquet and the Deadline Gang. Ron and his wife spent many summers at the shore in Ct. only to come home in August and head straight to Saratoga N.Y. In their retirement they became "Snow Birds" going to their house in Pompano Beach Florida. They loved sending pictures of the thermometer in Florida when we were here freezing in New England. Ron had a great personality and talked to everyone. He had so many great one-liners that he shared with all that would listen.  "It sucks to get old" in Italian, and "Are you happy or married" and so many others. Even at a young age Ron started his journey into the business world parking cars during the Big E at his  house in West Springfield, which he continued into his eighties. One of his proudest achievements was going to Western New England College at night and earning his business degree, while working full time and raising his family. Ron worked for many local companies during his career; Gilbarco (Gilbert & Barker), Uniroyal, and AKO testing in Ct. In 1977, Ron and his wife decided to open their own business Ron-Mar Inc. in Agawam. With the help of many family members and good friends they built the business from the ground up! He was also pre-deceased by his step mother Julia (Barosso), and cousin Ceasar (Chet) Rubinelli He leaves his children Roland and his wife Joanne Navone of West Springfield, Marguerite and her husband Rosco LaMontagne of Ludlow, Mark and his wife Joanna Navone of Southwick.
