1943-2014

AGAWAM-Ronald C. Brown, 70, of passed away suddenly at home on February 14, 2014. Ronald was born in Springfield on August 17, 1943. He was pre-deceased by his father John and his mother Bernice. Ronnie, a veteran, served in the U.S. Army from 1960 to 1963. While in the Army, he became interested in the field of law enforcement. After his discharge, he earned a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from Westfield State College and a master's degree in Sociology from Western New England College. Ronnie joined the Agawam Police Department and served as a police officer for 30 years. Ronnie is survived by his three children and their spouses: Kellee and Anthony Morello of Feeding Hills; Patrick Brown and Sarah Fontana of West Springfield; and Sheleen and Kevin Kontos of Derry, NH. Ronnie also leaves his six grandchildren: Tyler, Ashley, Ryan, Vanni, Talan and Siena; his sister Kathleen of Plainville, Ct; his brothers Steven of Ash Fork, AZ; and Joseph and his wife Patricia of Dhahran, Saudi Arabia; his aunt Irene; friend Les; and his beloved cat Boots. Ronnie, not the idle type, kept very busy following his retirement. He was a former member of the Board of Directors of the Dante Club, a member of the Rotary Club, Lions Club, UNICO club and the Italian Sporting Club. His favorite activities included golfing, lounging in the sun with his family and vacations at Hampton Beach. The passion of Ronnie's life was his grandchildren, who he loved very much. The committal service with Military Honors will be Thursday at 1 pm at the Mass Veteran's Memorial Cemetery. Calling hours at the Agawam Curran-Jones Funeral Home will be Wednesday 4-7 pm.
