Ronald E. Longley

1949 – 2021

Feeding Hills – Ronald E. Longley, 71, died peacefully at home Tuesday morning surrounded by his loving family. Ron was born in Springfield, MA, growing up in West Springfield before moving to Minnesota to be with his future wife, Sheila. He moved back to Feeding Hills, MA, in 1977 to join the family business New England Door Closer that he eventually owned and operated for many years. In his earlier years, he was a member of the West Springfield Rotary Club and enjoyed golfing and fishing. In later years Ron and Sheila dined out regularly at their favorite restaurants, always getting to know the staff more as friends than just patrons. He leaves his wife and best friend of 51 years Sheila (Andre) Longley; three children, Deanna Longley and her husband Jonathan Shapiro, Adam Longley and his wife Sena, and Jared Longley and his wife Heather; a sister Norma Tower and her husband Jud; four grandchildren Alivia, Lily, Ella, and Brie; several nieces and nephews and many lifelong friends. He is predeceased by his brother Nelson Longley and parents Alice and Charles Longley. Visiting hours will be held at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home Monday from 4:00 – 7:00 pm with a private burial in St. Thomas Cemetery.
