Ruben J. Calo, 82, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, June 18, 2023.  Born in Río Pedras, Puerto Rico, he moved to Springfield forty-nine years ago.  Ruben worked as a carpenter for over forty years for the Carpenters Union Local 108, retiring in 2005.  He was an avid gardener and had a green thumb.  He leaves his wife of sixty-five years, Sara Calo, two sons, Edwin Calo of Feeding Hills, Julio Rodriguez of Springfield, a daughter, Janice Calo of Feeding Hills, his mother, Ana Rodriguez of New York City, NY, four grandchildren, Edwin Calo, Jr., Jennifer Calo, Eddie Melendez, Ruben Melendez, and great-grandchildren.  He was predeceased by a grandson, Eddie Calo. Calling hours Thursday, from 10am-12:30pm at Curran Jones Funeral Home, 109 Main Street, followed by a service at 12:30 The burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.
