CHICOPEE – Ruben Colón, 78, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, February 16, 2023.  Born in Comerio, Puerto Rico, son of the late Ruperto and Jesusa (Diaz Fontanes) Colón, he grew up in Comerio and moved to Springfield before moving to Chicopee in 2002.  Ruben was a retired machine operator for the former Strathmore Paper Company in Westfield.  He was a communincant of Blessed Sacrament Church in Springfield and enjoyed his afternoon walks.  He leaves his wife of 53 years, Maria (Fuentes) Colón, two sons, José Colón of Chicopee, Ruben Colón, Jr. of Westfield, two brothers, Ernesto Colón of Florida, Angel Luis Colón, four sisters, Maria Melendez, Daly Colón, Lucy Colón, Irma Colón all of Comerio, Puerto Rico, seven grandchildren, Joseph Colón of Springfield, Tatiana Parker of Palmer, Kassandra Colón of Springfield, Lilliana Colón of Chicopee, Jonathan Colón of Hartford, CT, Jadalyz Colón of Hartford, CT, Jayden Colón of Chicopee, six great-grandchildren, Jeremiah Colón, Joseph Colón, Jr., Jonah Colón, Jayviannie Colón all of Chicopee, Gia Colón of Holyoke, Maddison Machuca of Springfield and nieces and nephews.  The funeral will be Saturday at 8:30am from the Curran Jones Funeral Home, 109 Main Street, West Springfield followed by a Mass at 9:30 at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 56 St. Anthony St., Chicopee.
