Ruth W. (Chapman) Bartuski, 96, formerly of Adams Street, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, March 19, 2015. Born in Waterbury, CT, she was educated in Suffield Schools and lived in Oakville, CT for twenty years before moving to Agawam in 1986. Ruth started working for Scoville Manufacturing Company during World War II, and met her late husband, Joseph Bartuski. They were married in 1942 and began working for Winchester Electronic, a Division of Litton Industries until her retirement in 1981. She was a fifty year member of the Winona Lodge Rebecca #8 in Waterbury and was active at the Union Congregational Church in Oakville. She came to Agawam in 1986 and became very active with the Agawam Congregational Church in 1993. While living in Agawam she worked at the former Oaks Banquet House for six years until her retirement in 1996. Her husband, Joseph T. Bartuski died in 1971, a son, James P. Bartuski in 2002 and her daughter, Barbara R. Welch in 2009. She leaves a son, Edward J. Bartuski of New Milford, CT, a brother, Erwin Chapman of Agawam, a sister, Betty Banker of Longview, TX, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The funeral will be Wednesday at 10:30am at the Agawam Congregational Church with a private burial in Pine Grove Cemetery in Waterbury. The AGAWAM CURRAN-JONES FUNERAL HOME is in charge.
