West Springfield-Ruth Anna (Garrett) Rant, 89, died May 20, 2015 at Baystate Medical Center with her family by her side. Ruth was born April 21, 1926, at home in West Springfield. She was the daughter of James and Isabelle (Blood) Garrett. Ruth was in the class of 1944. She married Edwin J. Rant in 1949 and moved to California before returning to West Springfield in 1961. Ruth retired from New England Telephone in 1983 after more than 30 years. She is survived by her sister Nellie Doty, daughter Carolyn Connors, and granddaughter Victoria Morgan. Ruth was predeceased by her husband in 1985, and daughter Katherine R. Wiggins in 1996, and her brother Alfred Garrett in 1996. There will be a private burial at Meetinghouse Hill Cemetery.
