Sarah (Passo) Kanner, 94, born in Brooklyn, New York, and long-time resident of Holyoke, died peacefully on May 27. She was a member of the Rodphey Sholom Synagogue. Sarah is predeceased by her husband, Daniel in 1996, her brother Abraham Passo, and her sister Pearl Nuger. She is survived by her two sons, Michael of Santa Cruz, CA, Alan and wife Bette, of Amherst; her two daughters, Claire Messier of San Clemente, CA, and Donna McCarthy and husband Terry, of Carolina Shores, NC; her brother, Herbert and wife Barbara Passo of Longmeadow; her two sisters, Rachel Cohen and Bess Cohen of Merritt Island, FL; six grandchildren, Mark Messier and wife Melanie, Jill Ibbotson, Lisa, Lauren, Sam, and Nathan Kanner; and four great grandchildren, Meghan, Emily, Connor and Carly. Sarah's memorial service will be held at the Rodphey Sholom Synagogue, 1800 Northampton Street, Holyoke at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, May 31 with burial at the Cemetery, 732 Pendleton Ave., Chicopee. The family will be sitting shiva at the home of Alan and Bette Kanner in Amherst, from 1:30 p.m. to receive visitors.
