Saundra V. Bryant
1945 - 2011
FEEDING HILLS - Saundra "Sandy" (Vigneault) Bryant passed away in the company of family on May 4, 2011. Born in Dover, NH in 1945, she lived in Torrance, CA and Springfield, MA before settling in Feeding Hills for the last 44 years. She graduated Commerce High School in 1964, and later graduated the St John's School of Business. Employed by several local businesses, 18 years with the Hu Ke Lau restaurants, and over 20 years for Dr. Richard Leaderman in West Springfield.
Sandy joined the singing group The Velveteens in 1960. In the summer of 1961, the song "Teen Prayer" went to the top of the music charts in Massachusetts and Connecticut, as well as scoring on the national charts. After her stint with The Velveteens, she later sang in the group Sandy & The Invictas. She retired from singing to raise her family, but never gave up her love of music. Later in life, she also took up local theater, and was a member of the Encore Players Theater Group of Springfield. She had a smile so bright that nobody forgot it.
She will be greatly missed by her family. Her husband, John Bryant of Feeding Hills, with whom she enjoyed 47 wonderful years, was her High School sweetheart. They spent many summers together at their favorite place, York Beach, ME. She was the best mother to two sons, John "Tony" Bryant of Feeding Hills, and his wife Lisa (White) Bryant, and, Tim Bryant of Feeding Hills, and his wife Michelle (Levine) Bryant. Her three grandchildren, Kayla Bryant of Feeding Hills, Adam Bryant of Agawam, and Kyle Bryant of Feeding Hills, will be dearly missed. She was the daughter of, Lorraine (Casey) Vigneault of Agawam, and Robert Vigneault of Springfield, whom predeceased her. She will miss her two sisters, Roberta and Jacqueline, and their husbands David Byrne and Thomas "T" Swinicki, respectively. She had numerous nieces and nephews, friends, and many members of the Bryant family whom she loved dearly.
The funeral will be held at the AGAWAM CURRAN-JONES FUNERAL HOME Tuesday at 11:00am followed by burial in Springfield Street Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held Monday from 4:00 – 7:00pm. For online condolences please visit curranjones.com.
