WEST SPRINGFIELD-Sheila M. (Aubrey) Fiala, 50, passed away Tuesday in Mercy Hospital surrounded by her family and friends after a courageous battle with breast cancer. She was born in Northampton and lived in West Springfield for most of her life. She graduated from Smith College in 1994 where she was an Ada Comstock Scholar. She worked for the Sherin and Lodgen Law Firm in Boston before she was Director of Project Management at Mercy Hospital where she worked for 17 years. Sheila was active in the West Springfield Youth Softball Association, receiving the Volunteer Recognition Award in 2010. She leaves her husband Michael "Butsy" Fiala, a son Douglas Walter Fiala, a daughter Emma Elizabeth Fiala, her parents Robert and Shirley Aubrey of West Springfield, two brothers, Robert Aubrey of Greenfield and Michael Aubrey of West Springfield, two sisters, Catherine Bienia of West Springfield and Maureen Aubrey of MD and many nieces and nephews. The funeral will be Saturday at 12:30 pm at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home. Calling hours are Friday 4-7 pm.
