West Springfield- Sheila Ann McCarthy, 82, of Morton Street died peacefully Wednesday morning.  Sheila was born in Springfield and has lived in West Springfield her entire life.  She was educated in West Springfield Schools and graduated from Greenfield Community College.  Sheila joined the Sisters of Providence and served as a nun before joining the Nursing Program at Mercy Hospital. Most of all, Sheila loved hosting holiday gatherings with her family in her West Springfield home. Many Thanksgivings, Christmases, and Easters were spent in her home. She leaves her niece Sheila Hanlon; nephews Thomas Dillon and his wife Sue; Jay Dillon and his wife Ann; and her great nieces and nephews; Molly, Maegan, Margaret, Edward Jr., Katie, Joe, Brooke, Sydney, Tom, Luke, and Matt.
